I've been feeling quite demotivated recently, not enjoying my runs and forcing myself to go out. I ran the parkrun route with a friend last week, and had to stop once on the way and then again for a breather at the turnaround point. She was much faster than me even though she hadn't run since finishing C25K so I felt a bit demoralised. (Yes, I know speed isn't everything, but still....). Anyway, I thought I'd better get a run in before my friend and I go out again next Wednesday. I told myself I didn't have to go very far, but what d'you know - I ran 5.5k! Very, very slowly - at 8.51/km compared to my best run of 7.20/km! But I really enjoyed it and probably could have continued. I've decided to focus on simply running - however snail-like - and to forget about increasing my pace until I've got back into the mindset of enjoying running rather than a chore to be done.
Back out there!: I've been feeling quite... - Couch to 5K
Back out there!

Hello D,
Good to read your post, love your determination fight. Mind over matter, its that what we all say to ourselves?
I gave up on time not long after consolidation, that was the best choice I made and now focus on distance only.
My weeks vary depending on the weather at 6:30am, the cooler the better and rain is perfect. The most week I have achieved TU-5K, TH- 6K, finishing the week at -SUN7K .
I am a plodder too and still find the first 1K awkward however, music at 148 BPM keeps me on track. It's been interesting to fine good tracks at that beat per minute.
Park Runs here we all come next year - look out we will be about ! All the best.

Slowing down to the recommended easy conversational pace makes it more achievable and for most, more enjoyable.
It is also the most effective pace for building stamina and endurance.
