Hard out there today!

Just pushed myself to get out of my pit and run week 7 run 1 and it was a stinker! No runners high to be seen either which was disappointing but I did it, and only had to stop once to clean up dog poop for 20 seconds and just added that onto the end, I was soooo glad to stop though! Strava is telling me I over worked this week so I think I may have to rest a bit more on rest days! I walked 16,000 steps one rest day this week and then found this harder today so I have learned a lesson! Stunning rainbow though so that got me through too! Onwards and upwards!

Great job... tough run, tougher runner!

I’m in awe of the 16k step rest day... I only get to those numbers on run days! If it’s not something you’re used to it’s best to reign it back and build up gradually. Also, it could be worth looking at Active 10 rather than walking purely for steps... it gives a similar cardiovascular benefit to the running and takes a lot less time.

Be very proud of completing the tough runs when they come... you’re building mental strength as well as the physical stuff.

The dog was not worn out enough after the beach walk in the early morning so I took him on a 5k early evening woods walk aswell x I think I am prob doing too much on my rest days and I dont want that to affect my runs so will be reigning it in and ignoring those cute puppy dog eyes more ha x I will have a look at active 10 not sure what that is? Thanks

My dogs were tired out last night after a 30 minute jog... my wife came home and gave them a protein snack and they went absolutely hyper for about 30 minutes, hopefully she learns from this madness 🤣

Active 10 is heart raising brisk walking. The science says 3x10 minutes of that gives far bigger health benefits than 10k steps. Obviously the dog will prefer 10k steps though!

Twenty years ago the family had a Labrador. On sunny weekend afternoons I'd take him out for a long rambling walk of five miles plus.

I'd get back through the door and the dog would get a sudden burst of energy and zoom round the house, prompting my dad to say, "You haven't walked that dog enough!"

Then the dog would crash in his basket and not resurface until dinner time.

Aww they’re amazing aren’t they! He’s my little run/snuggle/treat buddy, I have jogged his little legs off him since April haha x we used to have these slow meandering walks all around and now it’s non stop action and he’s like mam! Chill I need to smell more lol f but he’s always so ready for a walk no matter how many miles he has covered already! Utter madness x perhaps my fitness goal should be “outrun the dog” may take me to the grave tho ha

I also did W7 R1 this morning, and also had a stinker! The last 25 minute run had been fine, today was horrible and I have no idea why. I did it, but ugh.

Guess it just happens. Onwards to W7 R2 in a day or so, I'll keep up with how you get on seeing as we're at the same stage...
