I always try to get out the door with no time to give myself excuses but this morning I was a bit too eager. I leave my running stuff ready the night before so I can just get into it, Troy downstairs and do inhalers, on with the headphones, and out the door before I have time to change my mind. But this morning that was a mistake as I’d put my old faithfuls ( pink ASICS) ready with my kit and, in hindsight, it should have been my trail shoes which have a bit more grippy soles.
Boy, was it slippery out there? I did my 5 mins brisk warm up walk very carefully as my street and the next ones close to home are always sheltered first thing and if we have ice or snow everyone else’s has melted long before ours. Then I’m afraid I had snails overtaking me while I negotiated patches of ice and frost.
I was back in week 3 again so 90 secs run, 90 secs walk, 3 mins run, 3 walk ...and repeat. And strangely where I was concentrating on where I was putting my feet it seemed to be over really quickly and home I went. I am being a bit eager and only doing 2 runs of these first few weeks to see how I go. My breathing is back to normal but I am still building up endurance so I think I’d better stick to the 3 runs for each week from now on. Better to be safe than sorry.
Had another chiropractic session on Friday morning and I think I’m nearly back to normal. The Pilates exercises for opening Hip Flexors and strengthening and lengthening Psoas seem to really be making a difference so I’m keeping up with doing those. Chiro said leave it a month and then check in so must be improving.
So, looking back on this morning’s little trot - glad I went even though it was a bit hairy in places. And after my stretching and shower I made some Victoria butterfly cakes to celebrate my daughter moving back to Barnstaple and her new job which starts on Monday . Yay!! 😁🥂🍹🍾
