So this morning I set out on my consolidation run 6. My new goal 5.5k
I had just over a week off since CR5. A niggle with my right knee combined with our campervan trip to the Outer Hebrides got in the way. The weather's been less than desirable for running out here BUT today was my last chance before we headed across to Scotland's mainland so I knew it was now or never regardless of the weather... or at least until our next visit as we will come back (My last trip was 16 years ago when I toured on a tandem with my BF)
Anyway I took off telling myself it was about distance not time as the wind's very strong but at least there was no rain! I'd not even done 1k when the gremlins appeared and I started to doubt my 5.5k goal!
I hit 1k at 6:47 and couldn't believe it! I was running into a full blown head on wind and hit sub 7 mins!! This itself blew the gremlins away, I found my mojo and kept going with a smile on my face!!! 3k was slower but I hit a hill. Once i reached the top of that and realised I was still breathing I literally felt like I was on top of the world! I smiled as i thought about my return down that hill with a tail wind at my back as my reward for getting over it in the first place and I just kept moving.
It was a stunning landscape to run in and my biggest surprise was how at 4k and 5k I still felt like I had more in the tank so I kept going thinking 6k for CR6 had a good ring to it but I actually finished on 7k!! Delighted doesn't begin to cover it π
I hit 3, yes three PBs!!!
5k 33:15 (my sub 33 getting closer), 2 miles 20:47 and 1 mile 10 mins!! At the start of this holiday I saw the wind as my enemy BUT in just over 47 mins it became my friend. In future I will try to look to mother nature for positives rather than negatives!
I hope I don't wake too sore tomorrow but I will wake still smiling with pride in my achievements... 10k I have you in my sights and I'm slowly in pursuit... watch out!!
Wherever you are on your journey... May the wind always be on your back and the sun upon your face.
Happy running everyone π
