Dying to go for a run...

After my last run I've had quite a sore lower calf muscle (was limping for the first day!) and although it's been 3 days since my last run I can definitely still feel it. But I'm desperate to go out tomorrow! Should I go and hope it's alright or rest it another day?! I wouldn't go as far as calling it a pulled muscle but it's definitely more than the usual post-run stiffness. What would you do?

Definitely rest up.

Follow the PRICE principles linked to in the guide to the plan.

Take care.

Rest I would think.

Dynamic stretches, see how you get on with them. You don’t want to do more damage 😣

Yeah I think you're probably right, so annoying after the last couple of weeks being a bit off track. Was ready to get my mojo back! How are you doing this week?

I’m doing ok thanks. W7 R3 tomorrow is planned, had to check then, I seem to have been on W7 for ages but have had days in between runs.

Your mojo will be waiting for you when the calf is fully recovered, you’ll see 👀

Good luck! I'm sure you'll smash it 💪🏼 I'm actually jealous - never thought I'd say that about running! 😂

Haha, I think it’s knowing people/friends I have met on here who can’t run due to injury is what is motivating me.

I’m having trouble mentally sometimes to get out the door, the call of the couch is too great!

But reading that others can’t get out because of injury, I don’t have an excuse, especially when it makes me feel better and that I’ve actually achieved something 😁

Take some rest and do some stretches every single day until the pain is gone.

If it comes back, look for a GP.

Have you got a foam roller? I would try that with some stretches.

I worked with track guys as a sports chiropractor...calf injury can come from running to much on the forefoot ....when in doubt change speed , surface and if need be shoe....Blue Skies...
