W8R1 - run in the sun

After really not enjoying week 7 very much and having a slightly sore knee, I started W8 a couple of days later than planned. Because of knee I made myself run as slowly as I could - a smidge slower and I would be walking. And do you know what? I loved it! At the half-way point I was surprised, and didn't feel the usual hatred for the first 5-10 minutes. For the first time in a few weeks, I didn't want to stop and ran the cool down 5 minutes too, so ran 33 mins in all. I normally stick to the programme, but as the effort was low today, I didn't think it would do any harm. Didn't measure distance or speed, just time and felt the buzz and love of running that had disappeared for a bit. Note to self - run the first bit as slow as I can so I can enjoy the whole run. Hope I feel the same for run 2.

PS I did do a cool down walk and stretches (never, ever miss those)

Sounds like a winner to me. Well done! Sometime you just need to forget the pace and distance and just enjoy

Felt a bit guilty as my daughter who is doing C25k with me just did the 28 mins as she wanted to save the 30 mins for next week milestone - but she set off at double my speed, so would have run much further

Great job... just time is the perfect way to focus. You’re probably right about the effort and running on a little, but I’d advise against it for the next runs just to be sure, we want you lapping onto that podium, not hobbling! Enjoy that buzz all the way to the next start line.
