Finally after 5 weeks not jogging I have started where I left off at Week 5 run 2. Break my break I was not confident to go on to complete W5 - Run 3 as this seen like a big jump forward to test my intentions. I have repeated Week 5 run 2 four times now and wondering is anybody else struggling to get to the next stage or any constructive advice.

Hey there, well done on doing W5R2!

The big trick with W5R3 is that there is no trick! If you’ve made it through from week 1 then your body is ready - but it’s your mind you need to get past.

Someone on the forum wrote that they tackled it by telling themselves that it was two 8 min runs, with a 4 min run in the middle.

Just take it nice and slowly (and then slow down a little more), relax, and enjoy it! Have faith in yourself and the programme!

Good luck, and let us know how you get on!

Not sure I understand... you're run W5R2 four times because you're not confident you do W5R3? Yes?

Yes I repeated W5R2 four time due to not feeling confident to move forward to W5R3 after having a break. Just completed R2 yesterday and going to repeat again until ready in moving forward to the next level.

OK.

So just to be completely clear... W5R3 is a mental test NOT a physical one.

Yours is a common 'fear' amongst 1st timers.

Do you realise that given that you've now done W5R2 4 times, all that running (and Weeks 1, 2, 3 and 4) and time on your feet, have MORE than your BODY (obviously not your mind) for W5R3?

Please trust me, your body is ready it. You have been physically prepared for W5R3.

The *only* thing to overcome is your fear of it.

Read the posts I directed you to and the links. They will help you.

Remember: it's a mental test, NOT a physical one. (And that goes for the whole program)

You're ready.

Do it :-)

Q. How will you know you're 'ready'? What does that mean? Have any of the previous runs made you feel like this? Did you feel 'ready' to do W1R1?

Trust the program :-) It works - you CAN DO IT!
