Week 3. Run 1. Getting slower??

So week one i was at 13.12min per mile.

Now im at 13.50min per mile..

I am going further.. 1st was 1.8mile now 2.2mile.

But im just confused.. Why are my minuite miles going slower.

I manged to do week 3 run 1 and feel like the 3 min run was achieved and in week 1 i would never of been able to run for 3 whole mins.

So i understand my stamina is better and i can do more but on paper (aka strava app) im getting worse 😂

Your not getting worse, slow and steady is the mantra slogan here on C25K, congratulations on completing weeks 1 and 2 and run 1 of week 3, don't worry about speed at the moment, the runs are getting a little longer now so take them at your own comfortable pace.

Just deflating to see my times getting worse

Forget Strava and average pace for the moment, you are not getting worse! It is impossible to compare the average pace of the early weeks in C25k as the structure of the runs/walks varies so much. You are making good progress, as your comment about having the stamina to complete the 3 minute run proves. Trust in the plan, keep your pace steady and slow and enjoy 😊.

Don't worry about pace at all. You must focus on completing the run without injuring yourself. First aim is to develop endurance. Speed and stamina will follow eventually.

You must remain aware of the fact that injuries do come in running if we go beyond our natural abilities.

best wishes...happy running

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on pacing, minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

You might be better off just ignoring the tracker if you are going to arrive at those sorts of conclusions.

Just know that every run is building your strength and stamina and that in a few weeks you will be running for thirty minutes and the speed is irrelevant.

Enjoy your journey.

All great advice! I'll add to it, go slower!! Sounds weird but it's not. At this stage you just want to reach week 9 without getting injured. Plenty of time after that as you naturally get fitter you will get faster. Good luck and enjoy your running
