New Shoes Day! 😁

β€’24 Replies

First Run in my new shoes! Wow! What a difference!

Decided to change it up a bit! I set my timer for 35 mins to see how far I could get, thinking I’d slow my usual pace down with the increase with time & distance! I even introduced a hill into the mix!

My furthest distance to date, over 7k & definitely my most comfortable run! I’m amazed I ran my 2nd fastest 5k at 24.01, when I didn’t feel like I was pushing that pace!

I think 10k is definitely an achievable target, now!

I’ll put it down to the shoes! Still going to put my head in the oven, still feeling nauseous at the price! Good job it’s electric! πŸ˜‚ You can take the boy out of Yorkshire, but you can’t take Yorkshire out of the boy! πŸ’° πŸ’° πŸ’° πŸ€’πŸ˜‚

Think of it like this: the more miles you run in them, the cheaper they’ll be per mile!

I didn’t think your running could get any better - I was wrong πŸ˜ƒ

Thanks Boo! I think the shoes have little engines in them! They should for the price! 😁!

Frankly I’d settle for your old hob nailed boots if they helped me run at your pace!πŸ˜‚

I’ll pop them in the post! You’ll smell them, long before they arrive! πŸ˜‚! They’ve done me proud, tbh! Bargain at Β£25! 😁

Funny post- I pushed the boat out on new shoes too and I’m nowhere near where you’re up to!

I just thought I needed to protect my old knees!

They are fab! Who would have thought they make such a difference BUT they do!

I went and had a gait analysis at my local running store - I had the choice of a few .. do I picked these as I love the brand ..

if you get a gait analysis they will make sure the shoes do their job πŸ‘ŸπŸ‘Ÿ πŸ‘

It's not a brand I've heard of but have just read your post and am glad I've decided to wait rather than buying online. I shall book myself an appointment and see how I get on. I graduated before Christmas but have had to restart as I picked up an injury after getting new trainers because I liked them rather than going for the gait analysis, etc. Now I'll have to try and sell them once I've got my new ones 🀞

I was going to buy online but so glad I didn’t.. I think it’s ok if you know your size but they fit running shoes a half or full size above your normal size... I did not know this so would have ordered too small

Γ“n’s are Swedish! I love them πŸ‘Œ

Well done on graduating! Seriously.. I’m doing the programme now and I know it takes commitment and effort! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

So sorry you had to hit the couch for a few weeks due to injury... you must be so frustrated..

I can’t recommend a running shop and gait analysis highly enough... I bought them early on in my running journey but want to give myself the best chance and protect my knees and back

Good luck - you can research Γ“n brand online but do go to shop- they know their stuff πŸ‘ x

Amazing pace!!!!

What shoes have you bought? I am already thinking of which one should I get for my graduation in few weeks time 🀣

Are your shoes support the midfoot strike?

Hi RunGirl! I got Brooks GTS20’s! I had a bit of cycle fitness before start ing C25K, which has deffo helped! My progress has been amazing, but unexpected! Currently say here with left knee pain! Progress might be put on hold! 🀞not for too long! How’s your progress?

I finished Week 3 of C25k today 🀣 so much as the progress - I am just starting out really.

I am so excited for every single run and cannot wait to start week 4! It feels amazing every week to discover that I am capable to do more than I thought at the start - I love running

β€’ in reply toRunGirl1989

Great to hear! You will definitely feel improvement, week on week! Just don’t try push hard, too soon! You will have some bad runs, but the good ones will make you forget them!

That's fab. Well done. I need to get new running shoes. What did you go for? I got some new ones at Christmas but they are not right for me and I ended up developing an injury. My own fault. Went to SD and just picked a pair I liked. Did you get the gait analysis done? X

β€’ in reply toThisoneistrying

Hi, I got a pair of Brooks GTS20’s! I had a gait analysis! It showed as being normal until I stand on 1 leg, then my foot collapses in! It felt strange running on a treadmill! Respect to people who complete C25K on one! The show they recommended has extra support on the inside of my feet! Apparently I kick my legs out to the side when I run! Might of just been the strange feeling of running on a treadmill!

My new shoes feel like cotton wool!

Knee pain now though, so maybe over did it, yesterday! Deffo get a gait analysis, wish I could have weeks ago! I’ve had a niggle in my knee for a while, now! Hope I’m not out of action for too long! 🀞

Don't lose heart and listen to your body. I'm redoing C25K as I didn't listen and kept on pushing. I'm blaming the shoes but maybe it's my stubbornness πŸ˜‚

β€’ in reply toThisoneistrying

Ha ha! Me too! At least I know if I have to re-start, I know what to expect & not go charging at it like a mad bull! Hopefully, a bit of rest will sort it! 🀞 😁
