Excuses excuses, new shoes, and week 9

* I can’t do this

* I'm tired

* It’s six days since I last ran

* I’m hungry

* I don’t wanna!

* It looks like rain and I don’t want my new shoes to get wet!

I think that was most of them... but I repeated my new mantra ‘at the end of the day it’s just a run’ (thanks @davelinks ) got changed, put on my new shoes (noooooo shoooooooes!!!) and went out. And of course it was the perfect evening for it. Cloudy, mild, a very gentle sprinkle of rain for a few minutes, and not very busy at all.

There were some gazelles out for their evening run at the start, but they soon left me behind so I could plod round at my own pace ;)

Other than my new shoes being laced slightly too tightly on my left foot, it was pretty much ideal. Not easy, but such a good achievement for that! :)

And that’s my third week 9 run - albeit somewhat late! But whoop, I’m kinda done! 😊

Oh, and the really important bit: Mizuno Wave Inspire 14s :D

They’re so nice! If the one hadn’t been laced too tight it would have been almost as if they weren’t there! I liked the other ones I tried on, then got these in this size - and when you know, you know! :D

The picture doesn’t actually show the colour properly due to our odd lighting! They’re a lovely dark grey with mint green trim - and coordinate *perfectly* with my super-cheap running clothes from Lidl/Aldi a year or two ago! :D

Congratulations, what a sneakily quiet “ I’ve done it”

Hiding under the bushel of your new shoes 👟🏃‍♂️

Lol! I think this is the third time I’ve graduated over the past five years or so, which might explain it a bit - and in some ways I don’t quite feel I’ve done it properly since I haven’t done the run three times in a week. I know that’s daft, since I can clearly do the 30 minutes, but I’ve usually been so strict about doing each week ‘properly’ before I move on.

But the shoes - yay! ;)

The Colour Obstacle Rush is coming up in a few weeks, so that's the incentive to keep going for now - last time, DD2 had to encourage me to keep going, and to run more than I would have if left to my own devices, as I was too out of practice. This time I want to be able to run the full bits between obstacles, although I know it'll be unsettling with keeping on stopping and starting. It'll be fun, though, which is the main thing! :) I think the new shoes will get a pass on that one though, and I'll wear my pretty-much-retired-from-active-service trainers, since the foam and colour last time had a rather significant impact! :D

After that, I haven't any particular plans, but need to find something else to sign up for to keep me going! I know that the summer is my danger time, when I usually get out of the habit, so want to get a couple of things lined up to make sure I don't give up in the hot weather (if we get any more after this week!)...
