Toothache!

Just checking in with my fellow runners. Three weeks post graduation I have been plagued with the most awful toothache. Five minutes after I got in terrible throbbing pain would start and only stop after four pain killers. Yesterday it was diagnosed as an infection, an old filling was dug out, steroids and antibiotics were put in and it was temporarily refilled pending root canal. I’m going to try running again today. I had just done my first post-grad 5k. It took me a full 50 minutes, but as a 67 year old first time runner I was pleased. Maybe with renewed gnashers I will one day do it in half an hour! I’ve been reading the posts on here to give me the inspiration to get out there. It always works, so...thank you all.

Toothache is the worst ☹️ Glad you've got it sorted. The idea of running worth toothache makes me cringe.

I graduated in May and still can't do 5k in 30 minutes but I have been running regularly which for me is the main thing.

Enjoy your running and hope the dentist did a good job 😊

Thank you! I don’t think I will ever do a 30 m 5k, to be honest, but then I never dreamt I would be able to run for 5minutes, so not to worry. Well done on your running.

Inspiring post! Sorry to hear about the tooth problems, but well done for graduating and continuing to run. There is hope for me 🙂, I am 66 and never run before. Just about to start Week 7 and ran my first 25 minutes yesterday. Always good to read about the success of people of a similar age!

Oh well done Jools. Great to hear from someone of a similar age. I didn’t think running was for me and I am amazed. I’m not fast but my fitness must have improved, as I’m sure yours has. Good luck with your running!

You poor thing. Rabbie Burns called toothache ‘the hell of all diseases’ and he was right. Well done on the running in spite of it. 👍🏻
