Week 7 run 2 (strange run)

This was a really strange run yesterday, I’m currently in week 7 and to my surprise I’m smashing my targets each week. I’m overweight not done any sport in years other than kicking a football with my 9yo lad and then I used to get worn out after a few minutes!

I was on run 2 of the week and all was going well at about 15mins into the run when I came to a slight incline of about 400 meters up a road. I’ve been avoiding hills as it really pulls on my back and legs but as the weeks have gone on it’s eased up on each run. So I’m half way up and I’m at a good comfortable pace and my legs start to feel funny like I had no control over them and a uncomfortable feeling in my Achilles, no pain just uncomfortable so I had no choice but to stop. I walked for a minute until I was going slightly down hill and tried to run again but my legs just would not function and felt weak so I had to walk the last 15 minutes home, was disappointed as was the first run I had not completed. After a shower and a rest my legs felt ok again until I started to walk back up the stairs when I felt a strange feeling in my Achilles, best way to discirbe it is was like I had a piece of string hanging down from my shorts and bumping my Achilles, again never hurt just weird and uncomfortable tapping sensation.

Has anyone else ever experienced anything like that?

I’ve really surprised myself doing the C25k, thought i would never run for 5 minutes straight but each week I’m enjoying more and more.....think there maybe a runner in me trying to get out!!!!

It seems as if you may have tendinitis in the Achilles tendon. Best to rest, put ice on the area and try taking some anti-inflammatories. If it doesn't improve, a trip to the GP may be best. Hope you are feeling better soon. X
