Week 5 run 3

A couple of week ago I wrote on here how scared I was to do week 4. I have just completed week 5. Can’t believe I ran for 20 minutes without any stopping!

The app did stop working after 11 minutes. I heard from Jo after I had ran for 5 mins then didn’t hear from her again. I left it then decided to check whilst still running to see that it had paused. My battery went low on my Apple Watch so not sure if this is the reason it had paused. I was gutted as you can imagine. I re- started it, but then looked at ‘MapMyRun’ to see that The time on there was 22 mins, so I went by this. I carried on running until I got to 27 mins to to make sure I had done it.

Has the app ever froze on anyone ?

I have Mapmyrun and it has never caused me any problems except the day I ran a 9K, I was intending to run my first 10K the following week, however, for some reason or another there was no 9K call from the auto voice, I thought this is a long 8K, looked at my phone and noticed that it was only 300 metres to go until 10K, so I just continued until I ran 10K, a week earlier than intended, otherwise Mapmyrun hasn't given me any problems, apparently people with Strava and a Garmin watch have problems fairly frequently with their runs..

Well done Allstar75 on conquering the dreaded W5R3....,well actually more than conquering it, you did 27 minutes 👊 so maybe the malfunctioning app did you a favour in the end as you now know your more than capable and ready for week 6. 🏃‍♀️

Thanks I need to take 5 mins of that off for my warm up walk, so I did run for 22 mins. I get I had to. The couch 2 5k app Said I add another 5 mins to go and I was contemplating am carrying on but didn’t want to push it too far.

Looking forward to week 6 now, I actually do believe I can do this now.

Isn’t week 5 amazing? Awesome running, especially getting the job done when the tech failed you, that can throw new runners right off. The app does occasionally freeze... as do most apps... having a backup plan/app is sensible. Slow and steady into week 6 and you got this.

I feel I should do it again! I know that I did it because I didn t stop running. I only

Walked on the 5 min warm up. I know I’m not the quickest but I didn’t give up.

I’m redoing it 2 years on with my daughter. I remember how much I loved run one while doing it again yesterday... tomorrow I face the run that I didn’t really like with run 2, hopefully that one will go smoother this time around!

You did the run... actually, the way I read it you ran more than 20... 27 on map my run (including warmup) says you ran 22 minutes!

Not being the quickest isn’t just ok, it’s better for us. While none of us are likely to be going for Olympic gold, to be the quickest runner we can be requires lots of slower comfortable running. I love my happy pace, and it was quick enough not to be lapped but the sub 20 brigade at Parkrun... I may have finished in 35 minutes that day, but I was so proud of myself!!! Run happy, be proud... speed is for later if you really want to chase it... running is for health, happiness and life.

I love football... but I’m done with this empty stadium stuff, watched the first 4 premier games and found them all so hard to watch. That and my team were winning huge numbers of trophies last week on sky 🤣🤣
