Week 5 run 3

So, I ran for 10 minutes and then needed to walk for 3 minutes-although at a pace that meant I still overtook a pair of walkers 👣

Then ran again for 7 minutes.

I am literally gasping for breath whilst I’m running. I’ve realised that I never breath in through my nose then out through my mouth! I tried it during my 5 minute warm down walk and struggled to breathe 😳

I’m going to repeat week 5 whilst working on my breathing technique. I feel positive about it as I’ve learnt from each run I’m doing 🏃🏽‍♀️

Well done.

Stop trying to breathe through your nose, slow down and relax.

You need to go slow enough to be able to speak aloud clear ungasping sentences as you run, as described in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

If you don't, you will not provide your muscles with enough oxygen.

Thanks Iannoda T👌🏻

I remember reading that when I first started-and this is a very timely reminder.

I do need to slow down! I feel myself getting into that kind of leaning forward into the run position. I tell myself to pull back up and it’s not a race. I certainly wouldn’t be able to have a clear ungasping sentence come out 😂

Just seen a great quote on there..’you can only fail this plan if you head permanently back to the couch’. Wise words that I’ll remember.

Great run though, breath through your mouth as get more air that way and suck a sweet if you get a dry mouth, keep teeth closed though in case you swallow a fly good luck

Hahaha 🦗 Yeah, don’t need that 😂

I chew gum to stop my mouth getting dry 👌🏻

So far, two insects on the menu.

And I breathe in through the nose. 😉

Well done on your run. I have never managed to master breathing through my nose when running. It’s fine in a yoga session but not when I run.

As others have said keep it slow and steady it will really help.

Thank you 🙏🏻

Yes, I do yoga too-I think that’s why I’ve got so focused on my breathing. I’m going to forget about it and slow my running down instead 👍🏻
