Hi this is the second time I’ve attempted to do this App, for some reason I never get pass week 3🙁 but I’m determined to do it this time

I’m currently on week 3 and have been running on treadmill, wondering if I should mix it up with running outside as well? Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Transition from treadmill to outdoors can often take a few runs to get right, simply because outside you have to deal with your pace, surfaces, gradients, weather etc, but outdoors is so much more stimulating with fresh air, vitamin D and ever changing scenery.

Enjoy your journey.

Whatever works for you. 100% treadmill or a mix - no problem. I did the whole thing ona treadmill and for the past 5 years have continued to run on one and outdoors. I do as I need to do.

What's made you stop previously?

To be homest partly because I’m self concious about running outdoors, the weather was too bad and probably lost interest as I cannot seem to progress

First of all: Well done for giving C25k another go! I only completed the plan this month and loved the weekly challenges and to see my progress. And there is no real pressure to complete it in 9 weeks, you can repeat runs or whole weeks if you feel you are not ready yet to move on to the next plan. The plan really works, though, and while it might be difficult to imagine to be able to run 20, 25 and finally 30 minutes after just a few weeks you will be impressed by what you are able to achieve.

I never tried running on a treadmill so I cannot compare, however, I enjoy running outdoors and would recommend to just try whether it's for you or not. I could imagine that the changing scenery makes it easier to keep on going if a run feels a bit challenging or when you're just not in a great mood. And for me personally it is really helpful to see in the second half of a run that I am getting closer to home so whenever I feel I'm really tired now and would like to give up I think "nearly there" and carry on. All the best for your next runs!
