I'm an overweight, unfit, disabled, mature student who is determined to get fit. I'm starting the Couch to 5k on Monday. I would start tomorrow, Sunday, but really need a decent sports bra. My son is coming with me to encourage me and my little terrier will enjoy it, I'm sure.
Does anyone have any tips or advice to keep me running and motivated please?

Follow the programme.....take your rest days in between runs...more if you need them..listen to your body...take it slow and steady....keep posting for amazing support and encouragement... and most of all enjoy!
PS
Do not try and keep up with your son... or the little dog
Once u start you won't need a lot of motivation as after each run you feel so accomplished that you can't wait to do the next!! Good sports bra is a must! Have some good music to run to, I find rock is better as I get right into it but everyone is different! As others have said on here - slow and steady! You're not looking for speed or distance right now, just to keep going for the run sections! Good luck!! Xx
Well done you for starting this journey. The motivation will come from the buzz you will get after you have completed the run you will just want to continue and do it again. Enjoy your journey. 😀
Well done for starting the program, it is amazing!! Don't rush things, just take it at your own pace! You will soon get addicted to it I'm sure! Good luck! Xx
Take your time. Nice and slow - first run is hard - and then it amazes you how your fitness builds! Keep us all upto date with how you get on - and we will support you all the way!
Don't start with hills! I live in a hilly area ! - and it took me a while to find a good route - if you can find a downhill route brilliant! Hills are the devils work
Slow and steady and believe in yourself . I start week 7 on Monday and could not have done it on my own. The programme is great and the support on here is brilliant. Enjoy
I'm overweight too (quite a bit) don't be hard on yourself - push yourself but be realistic. For the last few seconds of a couple of runs I have power walked which I figure is better than stopping completely. It's all more than you were doing before xx
Fabulous. Good for you - you've obviously got the motivation and have already done the hard part - ie making the decision! Enjoy it - I'm sure you will.
