Week7 R1

Hi Guys, I feel abit deflated because although I managed to run the 25 minutes I was going so slowly, I’m not sure it counts as running🤷🏼‍♀️ I was going slower than I can walk and I couldn’t even overtake a slow walker at one point. I maintained this speed the whole way through? Does this count as a run, feeling deflated.

It certainly does count!!! well done from another slow runner. if it wasn't for slow running I would never be doing this (now at W8). I probably wont reach much more than between 2.5 and 3K by graduation but then will move onto consolidation. We're in this for the long-haul

Four years ago my very first post to this forum was a plaintive "Is it even possible I run slower than I walk?"

The answer was "Yes". :)

I kept on running slowly, then got a bit faster as my stamina was established, and now am training for my first HM.

And while still "slow" - I m having a blast :)

When it comes to "speed" I say "Comparison is the Thief of joy" :) Running is running.

Wishing you many happy miles in your future :)

Absolutely it does! Running/jogging is a different movement to walking which takes a lot more effort so no matter if the pace isn't much different to your walking the energy you are exerting is certainly greater. There are much better explanations online but you get what I mean!

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

If both feet are off the ground simultaneously on each stride, then you are running, regardless of pace.

Enjoy your journey.
