Week7 run 1

I had half term off as I was so busy. I was not sure I was able to do this run with having a week off. I set off early before it got too hot. I managed to do the 25 minutes but bit of cheating, I feel. I live at the top of a hill so most of my 25minutes was either flat or downhill.

I am using my heart rate to monitor my effort and trying to let it not go too high. Should I keep going or repeat earlier shorter times with uphill work, keeping an eye on my heart rate. I am 75 and on blood pressure tablets. GP says exercise is good for me.

Congratulations to you oldperson47 on running the 25 minutes run, that I assume was run 3 of week 6 of C25K, it's not cheating running on flat ground or running downhill, you don't need to repeat any runs but if you want to that's OK, your doctor is correct in saying that exercise, including running is good for you, I am 77 and I run but if there is a steep hill I walk, however, if you are doing the longer runs of C25K in weeks 7,8 and 9 I would advise you to run them on the place that you ran that first 25 minute run of run 3 of week 6, by the way you are now OFFICIALLY a RUNNER by running that particular run, well done 😀 🏃🏾

A run is a run - it's good to mix it up a little bit if you can, but loads of people do C25K on the flat, I did mine on a treadmill, you've got time to do hills after you graduate if you want to!

I am doing the Windsor Women 10k in September with my daughter and daughter in law, family tradition. Unfortunately it has a HUGE STEEP hill very near the start and the whole course is not that flat so I need to do hills but not yet!

I wouldn’t presume to advise but I don’t think flat or downhill is cheating at all at any point doing Couchto5k.. hills come after graduation.

The most important thing during the program is to keep running. If that means going downhill, then it’s better than trying to run uphill and having to walk! Running up hills can come later 😊

Well done and keep going!
