I’m finding it hard to fight the gremlins this week.... first half of the run and I just want to go home 🏠 pushed through and by the half way mark I’m loving it again.
Has anyone else felt like this? Is it the heat?
I’m going to try last weeks playlist on Saturday for run 3, see if it’s just the music 🎶

You’re finding it hard to fight, but fighting through it you are... well done Emma. Heat and humidity are up and down a lot and that doesn’t help. Also we have days where for no reason we are a little off our norm, and we have other days where we are better than usual. If you keep pushing though you get to the end, like today... you’ll be feeling great about it again soon. Go get that next one.
I didn’t explain it so well... the heat means the air can hold more moisture, it cools overnight and you get a huge increase in humidity. So in the weather we’ve had, early morning is high humidity, daytime is high heat and evening is half of each... there is no win there! Cooler weather means less water in the air so the humidity doesn’t go as high overnight, making your morning run easier.
Nasty little gremlins, just a bunch of free loaders, they moan in your ears, drink all the wine and eat all the Doritos!
Seriously, it’s probably the heat and also by week 7 the giddy feeling we get by the end of each run is subsiding, we are gaining confidence that we can do this 30 minute or 5 k thing. In addition there is less variety, I was getting the blahs by week 7, mixing up my running route helped.
Next time you tell those free loaders to bu**er off! You’re not listening! Stay positive!
Ah, the 'toxic 10'. It happens to almost everyone. It's your body saying 'what the hell is going on?'. After 10 minutes or so it realises that you aren’t going to stop and gets on with the job. Google 'toxic 10', it’s a very common complaint. It sounds like you’re coping well with it, so good luck for the last couple of weeks of the programme 👏👍🏃♀️
Feel a gremlin sneaking up, slay it. Slay it and all its pesky friends. They’re not welcome, but they think they own us sometimes.
Errr, wrong. We’re professional gremlin slayers and we will overcome them. 😡 😅
Seriously, we all have tough runs, and even though you didn’t feel the love, you still completed it. Job done! Maybe slow it all down a bit next time if you get the same feeling. Each run makes your body and your mind stronger!
We’re behind you all the way, and you’re almost there! 💪🏻😀🙌❤️🏃♀️
I get this too, for me it's a feeling of 'blah' both before and sometimes during. Occasionally it keeps with me through most of the run. For me, I furrow my brow a little harder and run at a speed that suits and get on with it. I put my shorts on and charged my headphones for a reason.
