W6 R1 - was I too confident?

After W5 R3 I thought I'd nail it but I found it surprisingly difficult. Anyone else have that? I wasn't out of breath or anything, I just seemed to lack energy in my legs. I completed it but felt a little deflated afterwards that I found it so hard going. I'm disappointed. I kind of thought after the 20 minute run I'd find shorter runs easier!

The week 6 banana skin takes another!

Don’t worry. A lot of folk feel the same during week 6.

W6R1 was awful for me as well.

But great that you completed it and kept going!!!

Ah, so this is a 'thing'? That makes me feel slightly better. Thanks :)

Off to search for other banana skin week 6 posts 😊

Welcome to the week 6 teaser I think you found it hard because you expected it to be easy after W5R3 but you completed it so well done.

Yes. I did think it'd be easy 😂

Silly me.

In perspective I've got to laugh, 6 weeks ago I was texting my husband before my last 60 second run on wk1 because I was convinced I was going to pass out and I wanted him to know where I was if he had to come and find me so to think I was going to find 8/5/8 a breeze is hilarious!

Just checked my W6R1 post and must admit I didn't find it that difficult but I was lucky I suppose which does not not mean I found it easy but I had started the programme without Laura just the printed programme which showed me what I had to so week 6 was only the second week used the podcasts.

I've seen a few people say they use Laura on the podcast. Is Laura the best to use? I have Sarah at the moment. Do they all say the same thing do you think?

They are roughly the same but as I understand it the app could be a bit flaky and unreliable but they only had the podcast when i did mine so didn't know any different the main difference is the app lets you choose you own music where as the podcast had it already to go.

I love Laura :)

That run/walk is the longest you have done to date.

I am always amazed that people forget about the walking intervals, Asif they had no bearing on your overall effort.

Well done.

Ha! Yes, I guess I have been discounting the walk. It's 'just' a walk... but you're spot on - it's the longest so far. I hadn't considered that. Thanks!

I’m on Week 6 - Run 3 tomorrow, and I can honestly tell you, Week 6 has been crap!!! Be glad to see the back of it

As IannodaTruffe says...:) The runs are all about discipline in our running...just keep it steady and slow and you can do it :)

Make sure your rest day exercise is increasing too, with the longer runs.. stamina and strength are paramount:)

Well done:)

what exercise do you do on a rest day?

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply towomblejogger

Strength exercise routine / stamina exercises... loads of walking too within a normal week.. two days a week., also I usually do about ten miles.. five in the morning and five in the afternoon..( I am retired, and I have a small granddaughter who likes to be pushed in her buggy :))

I cycle and I swim whenever I get chance...:)

I worked out a routine, that suits me for rest days and I have a ten minute Yoga routine I do every single morning:)

Weirdly I am not an exercise fanatic.. It has just become a part of my day.. and is easy when you are not at work :)
