Did this this morning and for the first time since starting C25K I found it really tough ! I did finish it but the whole while I felt like my legs were extra heavy! Don’t think I did anything different, but hoping for a better run on Tuesday 😀. Good luck to all on their journey x
Week7 run 1: Did this this morning and for the... - Couch to 5K
Week7 run 1
Well done for finishing it, you'll find the next run less of a struggle. I had heavy legs wk 6 run 2 and was advised to drink more water during runs, my wk 6 run 3 was subsequently my best run yet. I recommend you drink extra water (2.5-3litres a day. Good luck on next run👍🏃♂️

It is hot out there.........take on more water.
Yes but you did it lady, just check it off the list and look forward to the next one, you’ll be great ☺️
Well done, I think it was too hot to run today. I didn’t run today because of the heat. Will do extra runs later this week when it is cooler.
I think some days you just have a toughie! Well done keeping going and I hope your next run is a ‘glider’ 😊✨
Sounds like the way to go, slow and steady 😀 and you’re right my time was slightly faster on my app. Will keep at a slow and steady pace to begin. Well done to you and good luck on your journey 😀
Well done. That’s how running is though. Sometime you have a great run and other time you feel rotten. Just remember, you got through it and didn’t give up. That’s the main thing.
Lol didn’t feel rotten as I still completed it just very slowly 🐌 I’m just taking it one run at a time 😀
Speed is not important. Tenacity and endurance are what you need and you will get better. When I started this program 14 months ago I weighed over 20 stones. I kept at it and finished the program. Now I run 2-3 times a week, usually 6-7 km at a time as well as cycle. I’ve lost 3.5 stone and feel like a new person. Well done again.
Perhaps your legs were a but tired? Maybe have an extra rest day..
I found I hit a bit of a wall in weeks 7-8 and honestly thought I might give up, which seemed crazy having managed to get that far. I’d done all the other weeks by the book, not that I found it easy as such but it was manageable. But on week 7 I got bad hip pain and felt like I’d lost my mojo. In the end I just tried to take it really slow and took extra rest days, spreading weeks 7 and 8 over about 3 weeks. Since then I’ve graduated, and am running about 60km a month which I can hardly believe!! Still sometimes It doesn’t go to plan but my advice would be to listen to your body, if the reasons you’re finding it difficult are physical rather than mental then you may need to take a bit more time and build it up a bit more gradually. And definitely drink plenty of water!!! Good luck x
I have literally just got back from this run too. I had about two weeks off because I kept missing the cool periods of the day and I didn’t want to self sabotage by running in 20+ degrees as a newbie!
But goodness me. It was awful today. Haha it’s the first run I had to stop on (my stomach/chest felt awful!) took a five minute rest then ran back. Felt much better on the second half so I’m hoping Wednesday will be better!!
I sadly had the same problem. My pace on this run was a lot faster. Think I might have screwed myself over 😂
I was supposed to do my wk7 run 1 today, but woke up with no energy, so put off till tomorrow, need more water
I found W7R1 my toughest too! I repeated and achieved it two days later, then went on to graduate the programme last week! You can do it, just try again.
I think it becomes more mental now. I've just done W7R2 this morning (got up early to avoid heat) and finished but it feels like a slog. Like others above though it was my fastest one (although still very very slow compared to others). We can do this!!!
Heavy feeling in your legs will be dehydration, drink plenty of liquids and run in the cooler temperature of the evening. Most importantly you managed the run, well done you!
Hi Sue, I read your post and all the replies and kept it in mind as I did W7R1 just now. Took it slow and steady, thought I might run out of steam in the heat (real feel 23° in Inverness! 😎) but thankfully I made it! Good luck to everyone for the next one!
Keep up your daily water intake seems to be the good advice to cope with heavy legs!
Just finished run 3 of week 7, toughest week so far, all the way round my head is saying STOP STOP STOP, YOU CANT DO THIS!
Ignore the voices, one foot in front of the other and keep going. The fact you finished the run proves you can do it.
Glad its not just me!! keep going all, and let us know how its going - its really helpful to keep the rest of us boosted up!
