Feeling disappointed!! Wk6 run3

Question.... I have just finished my last run on wk6!!!

25 minute run!!

I felt great until the coach said you have ran for 12 n half minutes then my feet just seemed to stop..my legs were so heavy. I only walked for about maybe a minute then I started running again and didn't stop till the end.. but my question is... should I repeat the run again as I walked for a about a minute in between the run??

I dont want to move on to wk7 knowing I didn't fully complete the wk6 run3??

I was so frustrated with myself for stopping.. could have cried!!

What are other people doing when this happens please.... ??

Well done on getting out there.

We recommend that you repeat any workout that you do not fully complete before moving on.........it is a training plan, after all, not a tick box exercise.

Heavy legs can be symptomatic of poor hydration. As a runner you need to drink a minimum of 2.5 -3 litres of fluid each and every day, running or not, as mentioned in the guide.

Can you speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run?.........if not, you are going too fast.

Thank you.. I do drink lots of water daily.. I always have for years. I dont think the heat helped and the fact that when I stopped I was on an incline...I'm rubbish with inclines. I am gonna try again tomorrow and take a different route.. without any hills. See how I go.

I will see if I can talk whilst running when I go out next time. I feel like If I went any slower I would be walking.. lol...sometimes I'm barely running.

Great advice!!

Thanks

:)

Hey, hope you don’t mind me saying but maybe have your rest day first? If I read you right, you were out today and want to try again tomorrow? With no hills I bet you’ll smash it, so it’d be a shame to jinx yourself by not letting your body recover first. ☀️🦋🌻

Speed and water consumption are relative things..........I repeat, are you drinking an absolute minimum of 2.5-3 litres of fluids daily?

In respect of speed, you can make it hard or easy, that is fast or slow. As it states in the guide to the plan there is nothing wrong with jogging slower than you can walk.

Do have a rest day between attempts.

Well done on getting so far.

I am only a few runs ahead of you. My advise would be to maybe slow it down a bit.

How did you cope with the 20 min run the week before?

Really well on the 20 minute run... the first 10 minutes I found that I had energy and felt great. The second 10 minutes I struggled but carried on and the last t mins I had got In the zone.. and felt super. Good luck with yours :)

Thanks!

I feel that having a designated route helps me. That way I know where I have to be by a particular time. Gives me something to work to. It might not work for everyone but it does for me. Being able to picture the finish line is a huge motivation for me, and if I reach it before I’m meant to be then I go on a bit further which makes me feel even better!

Keep going!

You have to repeat that run again anyway as that all week 7 is, so don’t be too hard on yourself, you’ve got this 😊

I repeat the run. I completed wk 6 run 3, but couldn't do wk 7 , I'm on my 3rd attempt at it.

No point trying to run for 28min when I'm struggling with 25min.

Actually done wk 7 run 1 but slowed it right down like the Japanese runner says.

My fitbit pace was 16' 4" whatever that means,. 1.53mile in 25min. . Dont know how accurate my charge 3 is.

Dont be disheartened, definitely repeat, most of us have to repeat a few, I did, but definitely take a rest day or two. Good luck, you'll smash it next time 👍

Don’t beat yourself up over a minute, you’re obviously more than capable of completing it, if it bothers you that much re-do it, but for the sake of just a minute I’d move on to the next one. 👍💪🏻 you’ll smash the next run

Don’t worry. Many of us repeat a run. I know I did! An extra rest day helps in these final weeks too. I tried to have a final rest before my third run of a week and it did help. I also broke runs down into 5 minute sections which helped. No idea why!!!

Good luck 🎉

I might try this... thanks for the idea. When the coach says you have run for 12 mins I think god is that all.. lol... think I might turn the voice of and just set a timer on my phone to go off every 5 mins instead. 5 mins sounds better than you have another 12 n half mins to run!

It's all metal I think.
