just had the worst run ever! I've really been struggling with motivation trying to complete the couch to 5k, I have just tried to do wk6 r1 and failed. Struggled to finish the last run. The heat didn't help. And stupidly my shadow made me very self conscious about how I jog

Hi Captainfussy , you're right that the heat won't have helped. In any case, W6R1 is notorious for catching people out - you didn't by any chance set off too fast did you? If so, slow down!

Also, did you not complete the run, or did you simply not complete it in the way you'd hoped? If you didn't complete it, then call it a practice run, take at least one rest day, then do it again, ideally in cooler temperatures and definitely slowly and well-hydrated.

If you did actually complete it, then onto W6R2!

This run is so hard to do after doing the 20 continuous minutes the week before. A run is a run and they’re never a failure. Never give up. You should see my running style, I’m hardly Mo Farah, but do I care…no I don’t. I’m doing my best. When you do the run again, slow down a little bit if you need to. Hydration is important too. You’ll be fine, I promise 🏃‍♀️

We'll all be looking for our shadows now 😂That run is notorious for catching people out - I had a similar experience, even though I was forewarned. It got better, don't worry. We all have frustrating runs from time to time.

Onwards and upwards. Put it down to experience. You haven't failed, you've learned something that will help you in future runs.

Congratulations on completing your longest C25K workout to date and the one that catches out more people than any other run in the programme.

Have a rest day, prepare well by resting and hydrating fully and set off on the next go just a bit slower.

Counterintuitively, it is an easy conversational pace running that builds your stamina and endurance, not fast running.

Say this sentence out loud to yourself "Am I going slow enough to enable me to speak this sentence in one out breath?" If you cannot, you are going too fast.

Relax.......it is yours for the taking.

I know what you mean about your shadow - but it isn't a true representation of your actual running style and even if it was, then kudos to it for keeping up with you 😂

If you go to parkrun you will see all sorts if running styles. I look like an asthmatic Weeble. Just do your own thing. You can get training in running form in the future. For now just do it - at the moment, just do it in the shade!
