Did not go as well as First run but at least I ran for 30 mins ! Recovery better , breathing ok not marvellous but acceptable, feel fitter , lost some weight unintentionally, no adrenaline buzz but feel healthier.
Plus good to be out in countryside and sunshine !
New running shoes arrive today so I’m going to persist and try to improve technique/ pace / stamina and develop some enjoyment from running !
Pushing forward !

A reverse toxic 10 😎. Everything seems to be on track, that buzz will come one day... I found it came when I really relaxed and ran slower than I had been doing.
I’m really loving this week as people around my runs are having picnics and yet last summer it was a rare sight... refreshing to see how people are appreciating the simple things in life again. Your improvement trilogy is going to lead you on a fun journey all in itself. Stamina is the key to pace, I’d suggest that’s the first one to focus on, then you can start playing with technique... if you’re tracking you should see improvements in your comfortable pace over the coming months... then that quick pace can be worked on too.
This is a top marathon coach explaining why he gets his runners to slow down when they start to get ready for an event. It gives a summary of the science behind the theory of slowing down to speed up, and so could help you going forwards.
I’ve run sub 26 at 5k... I often run 32-36 for 5k... I prefer the latter, I love those runs... they make me happy. A PB attempt is less fun!
Hi H3, nearly there!!!! I do week 9-2 tomorrow. I slowed down for 9-1 after finding week 8 an endurance test. I was exhausted at the end of each one. I really really enjoyed the whole of run 9-1- even speeding up at the end. Maybe slow down at the start and speed up at the end? It’s hard to slow down, I know, so I had to keep looking at my watch to check. Whatever, I hope you have a wonderful graduation run! 🏃♀️🚴♀️
