Running - which for 57 years of my life I could "never do" - is the best thing I have ever found that has given me a sense of peace and enjoyment within myself.

Take each day in your own time, at your own pace. Read the beginner posts of graduates and you'll see we all felt we were taking on the impossible - because if we had thought we WERE runners, we would never have needed a programme, right? :)

There is are tons of helpful advice and encouragement on the forum, invaluable to beginners - read as much as you can :)

Take it slow and steady, trust the programme and it will work.

Wishing you many happy miles - and they are out there, believe me - in your future :)

Welcome to the forum and well done on your intention.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

You most definitely can do this 👍👍 I’m now in W9 and can jog for 33 mins something I couldn’t imagine myself being able to do at the beginning of this.

Just take your time and go very very slowly as there is no rush for anything 😎🌷

You can do this 100%. MOST people don’t understand being overweight unless you’ve been there or are still there. Everyday is a struggle. However by just setting a date and then going out and accomplishing your first jog you will see that you can do anything and remember it takes time and some patience to get where you want to be. Good luck and keep us updated!

Well done you on making the decision to do this, if you want it badly enough you’ll definitely get there. As most people on here will tell you, jog very slowly (snails pace) and go out early in the morning if you can as the weather’s hot at the moment....stay positive, there’s lots of motivational videos on You Tube, maybe give those a go, I did and found they do help 👍

I've only just started LeahLouise03 - did run 2 of week 2 today. I puff like a train, get hot and bothered, and wonder why the heck I'm doing it, but.... feel so great when I actually do achieve it. I'm doing it very much on 'if I never do it again, I've done this one' basis, which works for me (so far ;) ) Give it a shot, I'm sure you won't regret it.. and even if it's tough, and you feel you can't complete the first run, you can feel really proud of yourself for just trying.... and keep on trying.,, that's what counts x

You can do this ! I’m overweight too so understand how you feel , I’m a serial yo-your 😝I’m hoping to break the pattern ! Have always envied people who run by and said I would love to be able run/jog. I’m now 55 and thought now or never! Join us members in the Snail 🐌 Club 🤣it’s very popular club on here we just go very very slowly 🐌🤣🤣I don’t care if it means I can finish a run ! You must drink plenty of water it makes such a difference 😊

You can do it ! It will probably feel like hell as it does for many but the magic will happen just remember go slowest of slow 🐌🐌Keep in touch 🙏I’m running Wednesday will think about you! 🐌😊🐌

Hi Leah good luck with your journey and keep with it as it really will change your life. When I started having just turned 50 I was obese (BMI of 33.8) and pretty depressed. I started off going on regular walks and used an app called Lose It to track calories. After a few weeks I decided to start this C25K programme and I have done W5R1 today I have lost about 1.5 stones and my BMI is heading in the right direction. Some runs go well some less so but everyone on here is so helpful and encouraging and many of us have been where you are now. I genuinely can’t believe the runs I am doing now and the 5 weeks have gone by quickly and I am a completely new person. So much happier healthier and fitter. Go for it!
