Hey. I rememer you from when I used to post about my first C25K experience! I stopped running and also went for it a second time around recently. I got to week 4 (again, with Michael Johnson) and fell off the wagon but hope to get back to it again soon. Welcome back
I fell off the wagon after running 2018kms in 2018, had health issues, a running ban from my physiotherapist and family stuff too. Started again in lockdown.... when you’re ready for it, the runs will be there. And don’t forget Mr Smooth he kept me going second time around!
I'm back too! Just done W9R1 so I'm only just behind you. I think you got rather further on than I did but I have run a few times between graduations. Things got in the way, sometimes life, sometimes the weather. This time the universe is giving me time to run.
Are you over here or over there?
Good to see you though I am hardly a regular contributor here at the moment.
Hi Sheps - over here we couldn’t get out in time, and Brexit is messing up our plans big time. We may have to sell Italy as post Brexit we can't really spend enough time there. The Schengen rules are brutal, we are looking at all sorts of angles, but there doesn’t seem to be a way of doing half and half. Bum! Glad you’re back at it, I did manage my 2018km challenge in 2018, but health and family stuff and a running ban from my physio kept me away. Funnily enough it was lockdown that got me going again. Who knew that being told you couldn’t go out unless it was for shopping or exercise would make me long to run...
Good luck for your graduation week - I’ll raise glass of bubbles to you.
Hi Jancanrun, it was your choice of music on Spotify that I have and sometimes I run to, I asked for Keep on Running by the Spencer Davies Group on the Retro Runners and you put it on, even if I am just out for a walk in non running wear and that track comes on I quicken up and run for the two or three minutes that tune is on, nice that you are back, doing C25K again.
Oh my goodness Jan, I have been thinking about you so much lately. I have had to reduce my running to 10km as struggling with dodgy knee and hip - physio actually wanted me to cut down to under 5k but I just laughed. However my daughter has started C25K so on the days I'm alternating running with her with a 10k run. She just completed Week 3 run 1. And I've decided to do all her runs without headphones!
But seriously in need of restarting the Retro Runners as I am getting quite fed up with my current playlist choices!!!!
OMG what a year I had - injury, illness, running ban and also I got paroxysmal vertigo and fell off my physio’s couch when trying to stand up. He banned me from running. And very sadly I lost my dad to effing Dementia and Alzheimers over Christmas. Today was his birthday and my second graduation - still like you I am glad to be back in the saddle. Funnily enough I prefer the longer runs too, even though I just did 5km today for the first time in an age. Hows Mr Raz - new job? And both your lovely daughters - all happy and healthy I hope
Omg Razouski ....I’ve been wondering about you lately and now you’re here?! Have you been lurking? Sorry to hear about your dodgy bits...but glad to hear they’re not stopping you! Welcome back Raz...you’ve been missed xxx
I’m still running but got a new job last summer and just don’t seem to find time to get round to posting . I do miss all the chat but seem to be rather stretched .
Welcome back JCR. I've been wondering lately where you were and how you were getting on. Sometimes our absence is a sign of not running, other times it is due to just being too busy to post (or nothing new to post) but still running. Sorry to hear there were challenges that siderailed your running but so nice to see you back. Congrats on crossing the C25k finish line once again.
Hi SA, yes Im happy to be back in the fold, now I’ve just got to keep up the good work, only this time not giving myself a 2018km in a year target may help. Seriously, I really damaged my hips and there was a time when I couldn’t even walk without wincing, so this year is a slow steady return to running. I may now never do a marathon, but a 10km will have to be come my marathon instead. Nice to hear from you. Hope you’re ok
I can't complain. I'm currently training for a HM that was supposed to be ran next month in Banff but will now be run as a virtual event on my own. Life is so busy and Covid has made work a lot more challenging so it takes all my energy just to get my 3 runs per week in. I've been finding it a little harder to find the joy in every run but usually once I get out there, I get in my groove and find some degree of joy in the run.
Your 2018 goal was such a lofty one. Slow and steady without any pressure and just enjoying the runs for what they are will be a great 2020 goal. Once my HM is done, my other event was cancelled so I am looking forward to some carefree runs myself.
It’s funny how joy often eludes us, I must admit to not enjoying my return re-run of C25K, but yesterday’s run in a small way reminded how much I enjoyed losing myself in the rhythm. I’ve got a long way to go to be back at that stage in every run, but it was a lovely reminder of when you can enjoy the purity of just you and in my case the road/pavement.
Good luck for your virtual HM and carefree running in 2020
Yay!! Well done Hidden ! This truly is good news....you’re back in the flock and we’re so happy to have you back! Massive congratulations and a big hug for yesterday xxxxx 🤗 xxxxx
Thanks Bev, you’ll know what day yesterday was for me. But it feels good and I’m glad I pushed myself for those extra few minutes to do the 5km once more. JCR XX
Hey class of 2017 I’m hack for a 4th try wk 5 run 3 tomorrow! Life gets in the way but as you say the runs are always waiting! I’m a nana now sadly can’t get my cuddles! Lovely to see a blast from The past!
Yes that’s the one that was 2 years ago now! So nice to hear from you again sounds like you’ve had a rough time! Did run 3 this morning who knew I absolutely live running at 6.30 before lockdown work from home !! Yes will dust it off that will make it better I’ve hated week 6 every time!! Take care x
Have to be as I start work by 7.30 normally was lovely 😊
Welcome back Jan! Sorry to hear that your dad died and that you have been having such a tough time. No crazy goals this time round I hope
I think of you anytime some one asks (and they do quite often) for sports bra recommendations. That was such a funny thread x

Thanks HW, it is good to be back and I’ve just done Run 1 of Week 10. The boobage is still a problem and todays bra choice was a double ice cream cornet affair - I think I need to revisit my own medicine!
Only crazy goal is to keep on running, and to hopefully not sustain the injury and lung infection that started my year off
Started already...., but buggering Brexit means this is the last year we can do what we like in Italy. Next year the Schengen rules will stop us from spending much time there... Ho hum.
Working my way back to fitness the corona belly I’ve developed hasn’t helped one jot!
Anyway nice to hear from you - scorchio runs coming up in June as I think that’s the earliest we can get there.
I was preparing myself for that onslaught through the winter and reached the stage where now I'm stretching for up to an hour daily. I must say, once this is done I will slow down and enjoy doing nothing for a while. It's not the mileage, it's the severity of training that at times plays with your mind. Once you get into training runs from Clapham Common to the Tower via Hyde and Regent parks, you know that one day you will need some serious rest.
Thanks it’s been a long haul and I’m not out of the woods yet, have to do physio every run, otherwise hip screams loudly. But it’s nice to be back... how are you doing?
my running frequency declined to ... well, it declined, a lot! Lots of work and health (mostly mental) stuff been happening. But - back on the paths and pavements again now...been out roughly once a week, just a 15-20 min run. Keeping ticking over! Went for a little run in the drizzle today, very nice - and of course now relaxing browsing the nicest forum on the internet
Your tenacity in getting back out there and keeping up with all the necessary physio etc is amazing.
Oh I’m so sorry to hear about your mental health difficulties, I know how much you have focussed on keeping it together and running was part of that. I think its fab that you’re still going out once a week, it keeps your hand in or feet actually!
In these uncertain times, it’s nice to hold onto something good, and a once a week run is a good thing to do. Me I’m still trucking, it takes time as you know only too well. This time though I’m keeping track of the weeks, I want to keep a running streak (not daily that would be too much) but just enough to say I am a runner and a consistent one.
Coronabelly needs to go and I reckon it’s. year of running to get shot of it as a minimum
