I had read all of the previous posts to watch out for this run after running solidly for 20 mins in the last run. I didn’t take a days rest in between Wk5 R3 and Wk6 R1 as I have to run around my work schedules (I work 15 hour shifts) so even though my legs were a little bit tired I made it for all of the runs. I do believe that this programme has changed my life, I have stamina and drive and discipline to get the runs done! Looking forward to completing week 6 now and just doing the long runs from here on in 😁
Wk6 R1 done: I had read all of the previous... - Couch to 5K
Wk6 R1 done
Double well done then - doing a tough run and two days in a row! You’re made of tough stuff!
Oh well done! That's an amazing achievement
Wow! Normally I'd say be careful but you can't argue with a 15hr shift! You are definitely a runner, and a tough minded one at that, well done.
Rest days are really important to avoid injury, especially if you 'needtoslim'. Better to take a couple of extra days rest than pushing to hard to soon.
Marvelous job running 6.1 btw!
Well done, but if you respect your body then delay a run and have extra rest days rather than run back to back.
When you run, the impact creates microtears in your muscles, which repair and strengthen on your rest days, not while running. Without rest, repair and strengthening are compromised and injury risk increased.
If you want to be the best runner that you can be, then do non impact cross training on your rest days, which will be far more beneficial than running every day. It is not recommended for new runners to run on consecutive days until they have a minimum of six months regular running on their legs.
i’ve just completed the same run but left it a week. i had a little stop in the first three mins but made the rest. well impressed. most of us are sick due to low melatonin so as long as you get outside and a good nights sleep we will all be incredibly healthy. way to go x
