I did feel a little like I had all the gear and no idea and where as normally I try to avoid people as much as possible last night I had the confidence to run up the high street and beyond not in fear of collapsing in front of a member of public.

My new trainers were very nice but it didn't make me enjoy the first 5 minutes, still always struggle with the first bit of every run. But after the initial shock the middle 8 was a steady enjoyable run and I even felt my strong enough to push a little for the last 5.

All this being said my legs especially my knees did ache when I got home but I have found that a soak in a cold bath really helps my recovery.

Really looking forward to run 2 and trying to stay positive for run 3 but i would be lying if I said it wasn't concerning me.

Are you stretching after every run? If not it is time to start.

Actually I have learned a little over these past few weeks. For my early runs I thought it was good to stretch before you start I now realise it's really wrong to do this on a cold muscle. But yes since about week 3 I make a point of stretching at the end of every run. It definitely helps.

My biggest concern is my knees but I had been putting that down to work related. In saying that after viewing how I was running in my old trainers it was clear to see how out of line my knee joints were and today I have recovered better than on any other run.

Well done, and I agree the cold bath helps... Epsom salts in a hot bath is also great for a muscle soak.. 😎

Funnily enough I did the same. Have just found you can spray it on tomato plants,

Concern yes, but no worries... you can do this, just go as slow as you like :)

Look at you now..out there and gaining confidence with every single step you are taking...go for that next run and know you will do it:)

Hi stampy , I did this run yesterday too , I found this harder than the 20min straight the other day , but the weather was close . Also my husband came with me and kept invading my running space 🤣

I have to agree I definitely enjoyed the 20 minutes straight run more. There was a bigger sense of achievement after I had finished as well. I can't imagine what would be like to have a running partner I think it would put me off as I'm so used to zoning out and just doing my own thing. And not being rude towards my wife and children it's actually quite therapeutic to have my little bit of time for myself. It's not work. Bills or how to get the car through the next mot. Just me my music and my challenge.

Iol I have been sitting here trying to motivate myself to go out and do the next run, it looks miserable outside but I think I have found my mojo and I'm going to do it. 🙂
