week 6 complete! (sort of)

The last couple of weeks have been a mixed bag for me. Only managed to run for 18mins in w5r3, but decided to press on, as early w6 reverted back to runs with walking breaks. I tried the 25min run for w6r3 today and managed 19mins before I had to stop and catch my breath. Not feeling too disheartened though, as 6 weeks ago running for 19 mins would have seemed impossible. I also ran for the final 4 mins, after a 2 min walking break, making this the furthest I have run so far, even if I did take a break.

It still seems to be my breathing rather than tiredness that stops me from pushing further. I'm an ex smoker so that could be a factor. I'm not sure I can slow it down any further than I already have, without doing a baywatch style slow-mo run.

Anyway, w7 looks to be 25min runs as well, so I'm going to just keep at it until I can do it without stopping. I'm proud of myself for getting this far and I know with perseverance I can do it. Reading other people's posts really helps me believe I can, so thanks to everyone who has shared their story.

Well done, but do remember this is a training plan to build your ability, not just a tick box exercise, which is why it is recommended in the guide to the plan that if you do not fully complete any session that you have a rest day and repeat before moving on.

Can you speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run.........if not, you are going too fast.

Update: I did it today! Full 25 mins without stopping! Made a conscious effort to keep it slow and steady and I think that made all the difference.
