Today was hot 🥵 two runs completed this week. I have come to the realisation that at the end of week 9 I probably still wont be running 5k as i am so slow 😔. So I have started to run a bit longer than 28 mins and managed so far to run 4k.
Week 8: Today was hot 🥵 two runs completed this... - Couch to 5K
Week 8
I definitely won’t be running 5k..... not many people do run 5k in 30 minutes when they graduate the achievement is running for 30 minutes! Then you can work on pace....
If there is one thing I dislike about C25K its' the name, C230 would be better but it's not as catchy.
Only around 10% of people actually hit 5k at the end of week 9, I know I haven't and I've completed the program twice already. I think I'd been running around 12 weeks first time I hit 5k and it took me almost 50 minutes to do it as I'm not fast either.
You go out and run, don't worry about the distance, just enjoy the run, the distance and speed will come naturally as you go further down your running journey.
As you will see hardly any of us get 5K at graduation-it’s all to play for afterwards when you increase your time. Pretty sure I will never get a 30 mins 5K but I’m chuffed I can run 5K now! And to think I was puffed out after 1 minute at the start 😜
As others have said it's about time not distance despite the name. I would suggest sticking to the time for each run. The programme is set to increase time in small increments partly to avoid injury. There's no point in pushing yourself too soon and increase the potential for injury which would set you back, even if you do feel like you could run for longer.
I finished w8r2 this morning, it was hard going, just too hot. I’m not going to do 5k in 30 minutes but will just keep going (I think I’m just to keep repeating week 9 as I like the encouragement from Laura) I’ll get there eventually, Good luck!
Well done! I know today was a struggle in the heat. I like the idea of sticking to week 9 until your time improves. I have been bowled over with the support from others today... thank you.
