Just re-did wk 6 run 1 after 5 days off. Was so tough, but I feel great for it. I did think running would've got easier by now but I still feel really heavy when I start running. Argh!

Hi, I’ve just started back after a five year lay off. I’ve just finished week 4 and my legs are heavy too. One thing I do know is that it will get better, and once your body is all in sync with your breathing etc. You’ll feel like you could run forever! Good luck and keep pushing yourself.

Well done.

Are you running too fast? If you cannot speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run, you are going too fast.

Heavy legs can be symptomatic of poor hydration. As a runner you need to drink 2.5 -3 litres of fluid each and every day, running or not, as mentioned in the guide.

Thanks. I hadn't thought about the hydration aspect! 🤦‍♀️

I don't think I'm running too fast, I average 7mins to do 1k. I'll try more water before the next run.

You are too fast if you cannot speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run.

It is called your easy conversational pace and is explained in the guide to the plan. healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
