Phew! Just finished W4R1. I was dreading it but I did it! So proud that I ran for 16 minutes!

Well done but please don't dread any run it is totally counterproductive.

Relax and read this healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Thanks for that. Some good things to remember there, particularly the fact that you can repeat runs if you are struggling to finish. The dread comes from a long-standing belief that I can't run but I decided it was time I challenged that! I probably will still feel dread and fear (I've seen W5R3 so I know what's coming 😂) and I accept that but the main thing is that I'm not going to let that stop me anymore.

Good advice above. I don't know if it helps, and its not exactly the same, but as I long-term skiier, there was something I took from that which has been helping me. When you are at the top of a very scary steep slope, you remind yourself that you are not skiing the whole mountain in one go. You are just skiing this one little bit at a time, until you turn, then you will ski that little bit. It helps you not only keep in control, skiing one bit at a time, but somehow becomes a lot more manageable for our funny old brains if we are just trying to tackle one bit at a time. So, how I put this in to running is, I am just running this little bit as best as I can, I will sing along to the music I am listening to in my head (no one needs to hear that), will repeat over and over if necessary that "I love running, I am doing this for me, and I am going to feel great about this after", I look around and take in my environment, and when really struggling, remind myself to go slower and it is just one foot in front of the other, and I can do that. So not thinking about the whole run, or the next run, just trying to stay present in the moment. Hope that makes sense. Everyone has their own way, but this seems to help me so far. Well done!

Well done.

Not long until you do the whole lot.

Stay safe 🌈

Congratulations! I just did my W4R1 too, this morning. And am still in shock that did it! Had to wait for hours to get a window between icy cold rain and hail, but knew if did not go today, after already having two rest days, that would take myself out of it. Well done you too! I don't know about you, but I almost feel like a runner now!
