Wk6 run1 hard going

Hi Everyone, I have completed wk6 run1 today but found it harder than wk5 run3 where I ran for 20 minutes continuously. Has anyone else experienced the same thing?

Thanks Bev

Yep, it was a bummer for me too.

However , keep going or repeat W6 before moving on to W7.

Please remember- it’s your choice and your in control . You will make it to W9 R3 . And you will celebrate by saying - YES - I did it. It depends on you taking control . I aimed for the goal of a 30 minute non stop jog/run . It wasn’t until W9R3 I aimed for the 5 K which took me 41 minutes to achieve.

I just had to do it - yes it was a bl—y hard but I was determined to achieve it , no matter how long it took me . The time was not important to me . So - go for it sister - you will achieve your goal when you and your body, mind and inner self are ready ? Just remember , you are in control of your outcome :) so here’s congratulations in advance cause I know you will make it . 🐾

Thank you so much. I am going to press ahead with it and continue week 6. I’m the same regarding time, I don’t care how long it takes as long as I can run 5k. A huge congratulations on being a graduate 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻👏👏👏.

If agreeable , please keep me in the loop on your progress or not :) and, if you choose to share your outcome from

each run , thats great - and if not , that’s fine too . 🐾

Hi ya, completed wk6 run 2 this morning after finding wk6 run 1 hard going. I found it easier today 👍. Bev

Brilliant, do you think the cooler weather helps? Way to go for your continued determination. I struggled during those weeks thinking , it’s got to get easier - ! I’m happy to announce , it’s so much easer now . I’m W2R2G (graduation) and enjoying the 5 K , even though I’m still 41 minutes .

This morning was easier because it was cooler and drizzling outside . I get so hot when running, I only wear a bright yellow thin singlet with compression running leggings . I go out early , about 8am. There’s very few people outside to see a puffing old lady plodding along :)

Week 6 comes to an end with only R3 left this week for you. You are so close to the end of this programme . Just remember to go slowly, that is the key .

Keep me in the loop , let me know how R3 goes :) 🐾

Hi ya, if I can run 5k in 41 minutes where you are at, I will be extremely pleased 👍. I can’t imagine me doing that at the moment, but I’m determined to do it. I’ll keep you posted about 2mor. How many times to do you run a week?

Hi,

I have kept to the same routine that I started on W1R1 . I jog n run Monday, Wednesday and Friday . Saturday and Sunday I take off except, I usually walk 5 or 7 K on either day and have walked both days too.

I believe, it depends how busy you are and keeping a balance .

Rest is so important, your body mind and inner self need to have time to refresh and replenish.

I’m looking forward to hearing your update.

P.s. I found the last two weeks tough . I pushed myself plodding along , looking like a red blob puffing in- and out . Week 10 and this week 11 have been so much easier . It’s it mind over matter or , is it because I trained and needed these extra two weeks to get into the fitness grove for my age. (69).

What’re ever - I love it now , it’s still not a push over . The first ten minutes are the most difficult , then it’s ( ok , I can do this) . Enjoy no matter how long it takes . Keep me updated .... please 🐾

69 years of age, wow, I hope I’m doing that when I reach 69 👍.

Enjoy R3 with a smile - you have achieved another training week. Remind yourself how much you have improved since week 1 run 1 :)

Now , there’s success

Hi Bridget,

Well done 👍🏻

I found that run very challenging too and it seems a lot of people do. I did lots of stretching afterwards and gave myself a good talking too as it was a really long run time.

I have since read a lot of helpful posts about how it takes a certain amount of time to get enough oxygen moving around your body so I guess part of every run will be setting off mentally strong to give your body time to catch up.

Good luck with R2 :)
