Week 7...25mins?? Am I doing the right thing?

Hi all,

So on week 6 I managed the 25min run.

Week 7...I haven't managed the 25min run again. Instead I've managed 20 and 21 minutes. I've then walked for 5/3 mins and then finished the run.

Do you think I am building it up correctly as really struggling?

Well done.

If that works for you then fine, but best not to call them W7 runs, because those are 25 minute continuous runs and you will need to have three of those under your belt before you move onto W8.

What is making stop running?

If you are exhausted, maybe you are going too fast.......you need to be able to speak clearly as you run.......if not, slow down, as explained in the guide to the plan.

Are your legs aching?

If so, it could be you need longer between runs or perhaps you are not hydrated adequately.

If you struggle on any run, just slow down.

You can always go slower.

Have you read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which includes the pacing advice.

I run at 6.7.

I've never done this before and am just trying to bridge the gap in running for 25 mins so I can achieve week 7

The numbers mean nothing if you can't breathe fully and deeply, which is why the advice is that you can speak clearly as you run.

I can breathe.

It's more my calves and my right hip.

I do stretching exercises before hand and complete a pre-running yoga programme.

Maybe I need to leave 2 days between runs?

Do you do dynamic stretches pre run?

It is not recommended to do static stretches pre run, these are for post run, as advised and linked to in the guide to the plan.
