Am I doing the right thing?

Hi All, I have 2 questions after just completing W4R2: When the run time chimes, I run a far as I can (not as fast; I did learn to slow down), walk at a brisk pace until I catch my breath, then begin running again. Is this typical, or am I not pushing myself hard enough. I FEEL like I am challenging myself (lol), and my run times are increasing, I just can't run the entire 2 1/2 minutes yet (still around 1 1/2 - 2 minutes). Which leads to my second question:

Should I be repeating these runs until I can run them successfully without slowing to a walking pace?

Thanks for your response!

Hello tgreely, it does sound like you need to slow down more on that run as the speed should be a light jog at easy conversation pace. Don’t push yourself hard at this stage.

Yes if you cannot complete the run without stopping to walk, you should repeat that run until you can.

So go back to the run which you couldn’t fully complete and try again to get the full potential of the programme. I suspect once you slow down you will do it fine. Try one of the other mentors if you like. I ran with jo Whiley and she was a great companion. You can do this.

Especially aroubd week 4, that’s when I realised that slow is slow!

Yep keep repeating till you can do it 3 times without walking. Well done for joining!

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and explains the recommended easy conversational pace........no need to push hard.

Any workout that you do not fully complete, needs repeating after a rest day.

Enjoy your journey.

Yes you shouldn't move on to the next run until you fully complete the one you are on just take your time good luck 😊

I've ALWAYS had difficulty making myself slow down in all parts of life. Maybe I will finally learn that lesson. Thank you for your response.

I jog very slowlyyyy

That hss helped me build my endurance and i am actually looking forward to my jog every day

Look on youtuve the technique of slow jogging

I have noticed that it has helped me tremendously to keep me away from injuries

Key is to jog slowlyyyy in first few weeks

Always say to yourself this is not a competition

Thats what i do

Believe it or not i jog every day and i repeat days just so i know i can do it comfortable

I completed week 5 and jogged 2 sections of 8 min and i could not believe it i did it

In week 1 i could barely do 1 min without huffing....lol

Trust the program and just do it
