Week 2 run 3

Went running with my boyfriend today, faster pace was not very fun, neither was nearly swallowing a bug, I’m not sure how much faster I was going as the app I usually use wasn’t working properly but, next time I think I’ll go at my own pace and not try and play catch up. Although he did slow down a lot for me.

Well done.

If running with other people, the pace should be the one that the slowest in the group is comfortable with, which is why I think it is best to do C25k on your own, so that nobody's pace is compromised.

Respectfully disagree - I suspect the greatest failure rate is where people have been on their own, have no idea of pace, have gone too quickly, found it too hard after Week 1 or 2 and given up.

Far better IMO to run in a C25K-specific group.

Easier said than done though!

I will agree to disagree, John.

Be very careful at this stage not to run with anyone faster than you - that risks you not being able to complete the program.

Be stubborn!

Yea, although I think it’s nice the thought of being able to jog with people eventually. At this part of your journey it’s best to go at your own pace. I remember five years ago I’d signed up for a fun 5K with my mate, I did a few weeks training by myself then went for a run with her and she was so much faster and I found it so demoralising. But you can only do your best, it may take time but it’s better to be slow and steady. Feed your inner tortoise! Best of luck with the next run.

Last night I ran through a whole cloud of bugs and got a mouthful of them. After the initial disgust, it strangely reminded me of being back home in Scotland and fighting off midges...
