W3R3...why so hard!

I've just finished week 3 run three and found it really difficult. I got a stitch for the first time, and also had burning calves. I've felt like I've been progressing up until today and now a bit worried for week 4!

I'm a little bit out of routine given that I've had a day off work today so went out in the evening, and also had a small snack too soon before going out. Hoping this is why I found it so hard. Should I be worried for week 4?!

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on pacing, minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Any run can be hard if you push too hard.

Enjoy your journey.

Just back from w4r1 and it was nowhere near as bad as I feared (I am an unfit 51 year old), although my super fit 14 year old son wanted to quit because he got a stitch. He too had a snack too close to running and wasn’t hydrated enough either. Good luck for your next run x
