Yes! 4km! Plus so many questions...

Very excited to have run 4K today (in 38 minutes) for the first time, just a few days after graduating on 3.4km, plus it felt good!

Advice please though...

Apps- is there one that will tell me more broken down distance? Currently using MapMyRun but not sure I want to increase distance 1km per week!

Is zombies, run good? For a slow person?

Is doing one long/distance increase run, one zombies,run/interval run and one free, bit of walk, easy bit of run/discover new routes run a week a good plan?

Thanks, wise ones!

Well done! That is a fantastic achievement 👍.

A Garmin watch or something similar makes it much easier to keep track of how far you have run...but it might not be something you want to invest in right now (though having said that, mine cost £99 and it has been worth every penny!) Alternatively, rather than focus on distance, you could add 1 minute on to every run you do, incrementally running for longer? That’s how I got to 5k post-graduation!

Zombies run is good for any paced runner, no need for speed! It has lots of settings options. But don’t do it in the dark! 😱

Mixing runs up is great for fitness and for keeping you engaged! I focussed solely on 30 min runs for a few weeks, 3 x week, and then added a minute or two into one of the runs a week until I reached 5k. After a while, I introduced a short interval session using the “Speed” podcast of the C25K + Podcasts.

You should check out the Consolidation Club post for ideas - it is under “pinned posts”.

Enjoy your post-grad running! 👍

Mapmyrun in voice mod has 0.10 to 25.00 distance, go to Update interval, you will see a choice of the above distances, then press whatever distance you want

Strava allows you to compare segments of your route, so you can see your improvements... have you tried it? Majority of options are free of charge. Additional analysis for circa £2 a month. A full access is much more but who needs it?!? I like to see my stats, my average pace etc...
