First Run

Hi! I went for my first run this morning but found I could only do 5 1/2 of the 60 second runs, I don’t know if I went at it too fast or if that’s how unfit I am! Did anyone else find that even the first one was a big push for them? What did you do? Did you repeat the day 1 sessions again? Thank you 😊

I was exactly the same, just showed me how unfit I am, I had to power walk the end runs. I'm wondering if i will be able to do it 😊

stick at it - have a rest day or 2 and go again... you will get there I'm sure

Congratulations: that's five 60-second runs you wouldn't have done had you not started the programme.

There's no need to worry about repeating runs yet. The first three days are all the same so you have two more shots to nail all six runs in one session. If you succeed, I'd be inclined to move on to Week 2 and see what happens. Only repeat a Week 1 run if you find yourself hitting a wall when you try 90-second runs.

Well done for starting. I found it hard to complete run 1 and a friend of mine couldn't complete the runs when he started at the weekend. However he managed run 2 and said he felt he could do more. The runs are the same all week. Have a days rest and try again. It gets easier...honest

Thank you 😊

I guess you probably went out a little too quick. I would repeat but try and run as slowly as you possibly can :)

Well done for starting the c5k to put it into perspective and give you some hope 😂when I started this I was the same as you and now I’m on week 8 run 2 and running for 28 mins solid reaching just short of 5k so believe me it’s achievable I’m won’t lie it’s hard work but follow the plan and I promise it’s worth it

Plus I’m no fitness fanatic either I’m a 20 stone 40 year old man so like I say anything is possible just have faith in yourself and the programme

If you’ve never run or haven’t for a long time then your body needs to adjust to what you want it to do. A lot of advice is to run slowly. The first run was always going to be difficult but you’ve done it so you should be proud of yourself. Hopefully run 2 will be a little easier. Have a rest but try it again tomorrow. You’ll be surprised. Take care

I’ve started the C25K a few times before and found it unbelievably difficult, having started again recently, I realise that my problem was that when I tried before, I ran with a friend and unconsciously tried to run at her pace, it was fatal and made it so hard. Now I’m running on my own, I run at my pace, pretty slowly! My daughter says that I’m barely moving 😂 but it’s so much easier and I’m completing each run and enjoying it. Try slowing it right down. Good luck and hang on in there!

Well done! I could only do 30 seconds at a time when I first ran. I repeated week 1 for 5 weeks! I repeated weeks 2,3, and 4 twice each. I'm now on week 5! Yay! So, my advice, go at your own pace, repeat when you need to. Just keep at it!

Well done on starting!

Hi,

I struggled a bit too! Managed to complete the cycles of runs but I was out of puff and quite slow!
