Don't think too much about it, you'll set yourself up for a fail. Shoes on, out you go, listen to the podcasts, and don't get upset if you don't manage every minute or even any minute on your first time out. Keep at it, you can see how many graduates there are here, each and every one of us started at the beginning, just like you. Give it a go, don't go too fast, ou might surprise yourself...

Come back and let us know how you get on.

Try run for 30 seconds, then a minute walk, increasing the runs gradually to 60 seconds.

So many of us have been there at the beginning. Go slow!!! And don’t beat yourself up !!!

Hello Mrsjamo . Congratulations on having the oomph to give it a go 👍. How about doing 30 mins brisk walking a few times before starting. It may give you a bit of confidence . And when you do start, lots of people who are new ,don’t always run the whole 60 secs . If you are overweight you don’t want to injure yourself from the start . You need to gain stamina & confidence first - it will be good for you 👍☺️. And you will feel successful..... and you will want to take it to the next step , start c25k. If you feel whilst you re out doing your walking , you can run from lamp post 1 to lamp post 2 , along the route , that may also help you start slowly . Not every lamppost , just now and again . But I would definitely say to walk the 30 mins first ( briskly - not just a wander - you need to get a sweat going )

Let us know how you get on ☺️👍🤗

And don’t get hung up on the 5k thing , most people only manage 3k in the beginning . ( and that depends on how long your legs are - take it from a 5ft 2” short arse 🤣🤣🤣)

Welcome! Please don’t think you’re the only one who can’t run. I was you 9 weeks ago..my advice is: don’t go out until you read ALL the info on the welcome page..look at the Slow Jogging videoclip (that was THE best advice i got) and read through the Week 1 posts on here. But above all else..don’t say you will fail before you start, you’ve already taken a massive step by being here..I’m virtually applauding you 👏🏻 if you think positive and give it your best shot, that’s not a fail 😎

Welcome to the forum and well done on your intention.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

The secret is in the pace............go slow enough to be able to speak clear, ungasping sentences as you run. If you can't, you are going too fast.

It is recommended that you can walk briskly for thirty minutes before attempt the plan. See alternatives in the guide.

Enjoy your journey.
