As an older beginner I'm planning on leaving 2 days between runs, I started C25K last March and had to stop due to a knee injury after 2 weeks. So this time I'm determined to be more careful, I've done W1R1 and went verrrrry slowly, actually felt pretty good during and after. Has anyone tried having a longer recovery in between runs, and does it still work? I'm heading out later this afternoon for the 2nd run, just hoping I'll still be able to progress albeit slower. But as I'm on furlough for minimum 4 weeks I guess I've got plenty of time.

2 rest days?
2 rest days is fine, even 3 if you need, glad you are back and enjoy your journey in these strange times
2 rest days is absolutely fine... anything to make you more comfortable on the runs is good at this stage... strength in the knees will come through the running, especially if you also do the strengthening work in the guide to the plan. healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Welcome back to the plan... you can do this.
I’m an ‘older runner’ too and regularly had 2 days between runs during C25K and still do now, so yes it still works! Do what you feel comfortable with because if you don’t, that’s when you’ll be prone to injury! Enjoy your runs!
Welcome back to the forum and well done on restarting.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Enjoy your journey.
Many thanks to each of you for sharing your experience, it's very heartening. I'm determined that this time I will complete C25K and become stronger and fitter. My biggest challenge now is mental, but this forum is truly a great support.
All the best to everyone here, stay safe and keep smiling.
