Rest Days

I am about to start this and have read that you must have rest days between the 3 runs in the week. However I open water swim and need to this 3 times a week minimum as I am training for 2 swims in July. As I already do this, can that still count as rest days? As the swimming is open water, I do not really use my legs, so it is a different muscle group.

  • Rest days are from impact exercise, not swimming, so you will be fine.

  • What AF said. We don't run on rest days. But we don't, like, actually "rest". Good Lord no.

  • You will be fine :) I sometimes feel my rest days are busier and more strenuous than the run days... still fun though :)

  • You will be fine, many members use rest days as cross training days. Swimming and running compliment each other very well hence, the popularity of triathlons.

  • Thank you everyone
