Rest for 2 days before WK5R3??

Help!

Due to do my 20 min run tomorrow 😩. So far, I have only ever taken one rest day in between runs but thinking of having a 2 day break as quite nervous about this one and think the extra day rest could be beneficial! Am I right or not?

Of course thats fine feebe. Don't get too nervous about this run though..you are ready...😊

Start slowly and have a positive mindset...you will be surprised that you can do it. You just ran for 16 minutes..this is not much more...

Good luck..will look for your 'I did it' post😊x

It is absolutely fine to take an extra rest day if you need one. I sometimes take one if I am a little under the weather, or have a grizzling knee, or simply if life is terribly busy and gets in the way.

Many people find those 20 minutes daunting, but the program really does work and you will be ready for it - in many ways I think it is a run to convince your brain, rather than a run to convince your legs!

Go lovely and slow, relaxed and then slower still and you will be fine. 😃

Ah, thank you so much! Indeed, it’s an amazing program and I really shouldn’t be doubting myself! As you say, slowly does it. 👍🏼

I got to week six and felt the same I've had to have a couple of two rest days with these longer ones but doing them never thought I would must have been 16 last time I ran for 20 min 52 now and puffing through it !! Take them if you feel you need them :-)

Oh, so glad it’s not just me! I’m 50 next year and same as, haven’t run since at school. Pretty cheap chuffed so far and can’t believe you progress so fast. Do you think the 2 days helps or is it just the mind playing tricks?

Can't speak for everyone but it defiantly helped me i some times have too work away so it's hard to keep a routine - try what suits - one thing I've noticed on here everyone has there own way and keep going :-)

Yes by all means take 2 rest days if you feel you need it, theres absolutely no harm done in doing that :-)

Have a read of the Week 5 post in the Topics section in Blue on the right . Lots of great posts to be found in there.

Good Luck , you are ready . Believe in yourself, you can do it :-) xxx

Thank you poppy pug! Really appreciate the encouragement and advice 👍🏼. Think I’ll give it a go tomorrow 🤞x

Nothing wrong with 2 rest days. But if you have managed all the other runs you will be fine with this one. Just make sure you start slow.

Because I work shifts it's quite often 2-3 days between my runs it'sa feast or a famine but just going to to w6 r1 after 1 day off and see how it goes

I found the 20 min run better than 2 tens as you get in to a rhyhm

Have another rest day if you feel you need it. You will be fine with this run as the previous ones have been building to this. Good luck wherever you do it and see you soon in week 6 👍

if you need to... then do it..but you can do it anyway!

You are ready for it... just another run. Slow and steady...just head out, knowing you can do it... and remember we are right there with you!

Oh for heaven’s sake!! You don’t need an extra rest day. Don’t put it off. Just grab W5r3 by the horns and wrestle it to the ground. That “might have an extra rest day” is just Gary the Gremlin talking to you. I predict that you’ll manage the run tomorrow, but will struggle after the extra day off.

😎 Just my polite kick up the backside...

Every single one of us felt exactly the same as you prior to this run, and afterwards you will also feel the same surprise, glow and buzz that we all know is waiting for you.

I did mine on my 57th birthday (gremlins giving me every excuse as to why I shouldn't). It was the perfect present to myself!😊🏃
