Rest days

I looking for some info on what others do for rest days. I've just started the program with w1r3 tomorrow. Do most people just leave one day between runs, is it a case if run when you can? I've left two days this weekend but did go mountain walking on Saturday so needed a rest today!!! Lol

Well done for starting c25k. I asked the question myself and the answer i got was, you can do anything but run. There were lots of suggestions to do the nhs strength and flex program alongside the running.

You can run every other day or leave longer if you have or want to. Rest days are as important as run days. Respect them, but they don't mean inactivity. Just avoid any impact exercise.

Absolutely anything that does not involve running. Walking, swimming, cycling, pogo sticking ( is that a verb), hula hooping ( don't laugh, I have a 3lb weighted hula hoop and it has done more to change to appearance of my abdominal area than anything else and I've tried it all!)

Rignold will be on any minute extolling the virtues of squats ( everyday, not just on your rest days!)

Go with the flow, whatever feels good. Great to have you on board.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

NHS Strength and Flex, many of us used and still do sometimes..

Walking, cycling swimming, Yoga, Pilates.. gardening, hiking, climbing..pushing granddaughter in pram for miles ( oh sorry, that is me :))... Just keep it low impact, take an extra day if you need to and factor in heavy work days too... :)

I would strongly make the case for, as well as your squats, doing some resistance training on your days off cardio. So few people do any form of resistance training and it is so important to health, fitness etc. You don't have to be lifting twice your body weight (although it's a great goal to work towards), and you are not going to get bulky. It will benefit your running, your daily life and your appearance no end. So go lift something off the ground. Lift your body up and down. Marvel in the abilities of your muscles.

Does lifting my small runner in training, count, Rig? I have been, regularly, doing squats whilst holding her. She is just over 9 kg now...:)
