Just a reminder that just because we can doesnโt mean we should.
I injured myself post graduation last year as was a bit overly vivacious. Couldnโt then run for about 10 weeks which was a killer
This week on leave prior to going back to work at hospital and not quite clear on how Iโll fit runs in. So have run every day, plus a core class. Bodyโs not used to every day running and Iโm sore this morning.
Sorry for the ramble but just wanted to gently remind especially new graduates that it really is a marathon not a sprint xxx happy healthy running lovely peeps ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐๐ปโโ๏ธ

Very helpful reminder, thanks Vintage. I think that general advice is that you should not run consecutive days until you have been running for at least 6 months. Apart from the very occasional run streak (I did one mile a day for 7 days recently as a small personal challenge), I always take my rest days. Thatโs when the work happens - when muscles can repair in terms of small tears.
Another benefit of rest days is that you can use them for strength work, which in turn will make you a stronger and less injury prone runner! Squats, clams, planks - all easy stuff to do at home! The Strength and Flex is full of good ideas for this type of exercise.
Thank you for working in our hospitals ๐๐๐. And take good care of yourself. I do hope you manage to fit in some short runs (even a 10-min run can yield good benefits, especially for a tired and stressed mind). Failing that, rest...and some nice pre-bed stretches. Am rooting for you.๐
Thank you. I had planned leave this week that I was told to take before the surge ๐ฅบ ๐Running is so much part of life for me now and deffo helps my mental health. Dusting off my ICU skills from previous role few years ago so should be fun ๐คช Sure I will fit runs in, will just have to be super duper organised x
Donโt go too mad Vintage - youโll need all your energy when you get back to work! As you say, itโs a marathon not a sprint (oh how Iโd love to be able to sprint!). My road were out appreciating you and your colleagues last night . Happy running when you can!
Thank you for all youโre doing. Even my sleepy Devon village was clapping, cheering, banging on dustbins and letting off fireworks last night. It was amazing.
