Good idea! Take it easy though if you don’t complete the 5k in 30mins 😁

I can only do 3k in 30 mins ..lol

I was under that at the end, about 2.8k. But I did a PR at W6 although it took me 55mims, lol. Just do your grad run slowly, and walk/jog the rest of the way - it’ll be an added bonus to your graduation 👍😁

That’s what I did- but make sure you follow the plan. Don’t get swept up in the excitement of everyone else rushing off in front of you! Don’t forget to take your barcode with you so that your time can be recorded - that way, you’ll have a target to beat in the future! And enjoy it!

It's what I said

I'm def not as fast as him or many others but he said do at my own pace. I'm managing 3k in 30 mins

Brilliant way to grab that graduation 👍

Great idea.

This may help healthunlocked.com/couchto5....

Please don't be tempted to run the whole distance...........you would be breaching the 10% rule used by experienced runners to increase their weekly duration, but even if you walk some, you will still get a time to chip away at in months and years to come.

Thanks IannodaTruffe .. yes my partner did say walk the remainder. I would struggle to do 5K. Will walk after my 30 mins

I hope you continue to post. I am fascinated to learn how the rather less able amongst us progress. I did 3.2k in my week 9 "runs" and have never managed to better that. I have been accused of being lazy on this site and even of being a liar about achieving graduate status. I hope you do better. Good luck!

Called I liar .. that's weird!

I’m really sad that anyone on this forum would ever dream of calling someone a liar Oldman! This has always been such a positive forum and supportive of everyone, regardless of ability and I probably wouldn’t have completed my C25K without them! Like you, I ‘only’

managed about 3k in 30 mins when I finished and was probably a bit disappointed but reasoned that it was better than nothing! In spite of its title, the plan isn’t intended to get you doing 5k at graduation; the idea is to get us off the couch and running for 30 minutes - which for most of us is a very different thing! I can now do 5k but am super slow (average 10 mins per km) but don’t mind - as long as I can run, I’m doing OK! I don’t regard my lack of speed as lazy, I may get a bit faster in time or I won’t but it is what it is! Whether it’s 30 minutes, 3km, or a marathon, let’s just get out there and do it! Happy running one and all!

Not just weird, but quite upsetting. When I described my lack of progress I was told, "the odds on 30 minutes being their limit of endurance and fitness would be incredibly small, so I while I do believe in non responders, I don’t believe, by definition, there can be one with a graduate badge on this server." In other words, you're telling porkies. I was subsequently told I might consider asking to have my graduate badge removed. This is all true and the posts are still there on the site. The fact is I struggled to complete C25K with a distance of 3.2k and have not improved further. Unfortunately this clashes with the message of this site.

That’s a shame - my best 5k time is 33:46 so haven’t managed that elusive 5k in 30 mins. I’m not sure many people do by the end of C25k- it’s the fact that you are running consistently for 30 minutes that counts not the distance. Ignore the haters, do your own thing and hopefully you’ll keep running for your own enjoyment. Good luck Oldman51.

My other half does it in 24 mins.. his PB, but he has been running for years. Me back surgery, chronic fatigue syndrome anxiety etc etc, I'm glad I keep moving for 30 mins. But it is about endurance and I'm glad I have built that, will carry on. If I dont get faster at least I'm getting out I guess x

I will probably be banned for saying this, but the "hater" who said this has since been elevated to Administrator. I was nearly banned for arguing with a hater about non-responders. This site is not all sweetness and light.
