So, my graduate husband did the 5 min brisk walk with me, then ZOOM off he went, leaving me to Niko-Niko my first 8 minutes - all went well!
Today, I was accompanied by the sound of a woodpecker hammering away and also little black flies that tried to fly in my face, I wonder how many I accidentally breathed in?
Saw a few new faces in their running gear, looked like they had started the plan too as they were alternating their shorter walks and runs. That was me just a few weeks ago!
The second 8 minute run felt easier than the first. I am noticing a pattern - my first few minutes of a run are just... ugh... then it all fits together as my body warms up and gets into rhythm.
Then - mini disaster - my sound cut-out on my phone - I fiddled away as I ran and got is working again - phew! I don't wear a heart monitor or sports watch but I bet my heartbeat freaked out at that point!
I had hit a comfy, albeit slow, pace by the time the second 8 minutes were up - I was a little bit naughty and extended my run just to reach the point of the track where I first started - and my body was like "yeah, OK, no problem, carry on". I forced myself to then go into the warm-down walk as I don't want to jeopardise the 20 minute run on Friday with achey joints or injury! But I felt that I could have carried on running for longer... but I need to stick to the program and not get too bold, for now. I can concentrate on pushing myself when I graduate
I hope you all had good runs today and good luck to those running tomorrow!
I'll report again on Friday - for W5R3!!
