Well what a nice suprise for a cold February evening, W8R2 and I produced a 31min 5km! It was a cold evening here in S Wales and I'd had a rubbish day in work, two sickly grehounds to contend with over the past few days so not much sleep but I ventured out anyway.

I returned to my local 'around the streets' route that I havent used for the last few weeks, headtorch on, winter leggings and off I went. Laura giving me instructions, although to be fair at this time duration, 28mins, the instructions are few and far between. Nevertheless I plodded on and as what I assumed was the end of the session looming my headphones stopped working so I had no idea what the time was. I therefore carried on until I ran out of road, Forest Gump like...

Low and behold my Strav app bleeps on my phone, I have a quick glance, struggling to swipe with my trusty Ronhill winter running gloves and I almost fall over astonished, 5km, I've just run my first ever 5km. The 5 min cool down return walk was a happy one. My wife was over the moon saying how proud she was, greyhound 1 and lurcher 2 had just been sick again or had the runs so not much praise from them but I was beaming with joy, all be it through the sweat and utter exhaustion...

This running lark is good for the soul....

Good run for you last night, perhaps soon you may be able to run a 5K in less than 30 minutes.

I think I can relax for the remainder of the programme as my goal has always been making it to 30 mins, if that means 5k so be it!! I just want to get to a place when I can escape for 30 mins and take in my surroundings.

Thanks MrWomble, I know, I was surprised myself. I am struggling with pace but with more Km’s I guess that will develop over time.
