Well I finally got there, I ran my first non stop 5k this morning with a time of just under 41 minutes. I know itβs not the fastest but at least Iβm there and I have another benchmark to beat. I carried on to 44 minutes as Iβm on week 3 of the magic 10 and can honestly say that this has been the hardest run Iβve ever done. I had a big fight with myself to keep going right from the start and the last 10 minutes were sheer will power but I did it and I feel great πππ
Happy running everybody.

Congratulations Rigpig on that run, you are at the Magic 10 around the same bit as I am.
Tomorrow I will be either running, run 2 of week 4, 30 minutes near to where I live or if I can get to parkrun, (just noticed that the road is closed due to flooding) the run will be a little longer at around 33 minutes.
Well done!! Iβm still slow but improving slightly. My first 5k was 46.39 and quickest (so far) 39.56. Iβm happy enough with that. What Iβm finding lately is Iβm running faster (unintentionally) and burning out and having to walk so Iβm having a real battle with myself to keep it slow. (Well, slower than my already slow pace π) Iβve got my first 5k race on 8th March and then after that Iβm going to really get into the 10k plan. Ur doing fab Tim ππΌ
Thanks, I think everything is relative and Iβm really glad that I finally made it! I have a PB to work on now and as my Saturday runs get even longer Iβm hoping my 30 minute runs get a bit faster. I know what you mean about pace though especially starting a longer run my legs are like lead by the end π
I've found Nike Run Club (NRC) a useful app as you can put the distance or time in and then each km it tells you in your ear your pace. I've found this a good way of keeping steady as I'm going along.
That first 5k is magic isnβt it? ours took 52 minutes and weβve been whittling a few seconds off here and there ever since, might get as fast as you one day but by then you will be faster
