Just completed week 5 run 3

Delighted that I managed a jog for 20 mins to complete run 3 of week 5. Following advice on this forum, I found the Japanese slow running videos on YouTube really helpful in learning to slow down! Just need to dry off now!

Well done that’s a great feeling that 20 minutes, and the slow jogging video so helpful

Interestingly we went slower and slower as the runs got longer then found that our slow was actually faster than our fast in the first couple of weeks

I’m due to do week 5 run 3 tomorrow and quite apprehensive about the leap from 2 lots of 8 minutes to 20 minutes straight! Will take a look at the Japanese slow running videos you mention. Thank you :-)

W5R3 is not as scary as it seems. Your body is ready (you have 157 minutes of running behind you now) but your mind is not - the challenge is 90% mental. Have a look at this I put together:

I hadn’t thought of it before in terms of total minutes under my belt; that’s really helpful. I too balked at the step change from week 3 to 4, but then managed it all the same and surprised myself. Hopefully I will be surprised tomorrow as well!

You;re welcome.

I think it's because most people doing it, just use the app and see or hear the individual running bits. But to have an overall sense of the program (seeing the wood for the trees so to speak) can actually be quite helpful.

Just take it nice and easy and you'll be absolutely fine.

Good luck! Not that you need it :-)

Well done, that run is a really pivotal one - on to the longer runs now after a coupke more walk/run sessions!
